Birdy

    In 2008 the now 18 year old named Jasmine van den Bogaerde, began performing under the stage name "Birdy". The singer-songwriter started her career by winning a music competition called "Open Mic UK", in 2008. You you probably know by the last sentence this British singer got to later perform live for BBC radio 3's Pianothon 2009 in London. The indie folk, pop, and rock singer is best know for her nomination and win for the title female solo artist international, for Echo.

American Authors

    I best known them for their song "Best day of my life", and you still might not know them, but that's okay, you will know now. This american music band has been making music since 2007 in our very own Boston, Massachusetts. The band consists of Zac Barnett, James Adam Shelley, Dave Rublin, and Matt Sanchez. The members met each other while attending Berklee College of Music in 2007.They spent their first years as a band recrding and performing music under the name "The Blue Pages". The band changed their name to "American Authors" in 2012. Later they recorded and made a music video for their song "Best day of my life", soon they were featured as a VH1 you outta know artist.

Florence and the Machine

    Indie rock and  pop singer Florence Welch, and the band (the machine), have been making music since 2007. The bands name started of as a private joke that got out of hand. Florence and the Machine originated in London, England, and were recognized BBC radio. Their first album "Lungs", was released in July 2009 in the United Kingdom. That same year the band won the Mercury prize, for the same album. No wonder why this band is still making music, to this day. Together they are unstoppable. Since releasing their hit song "Shake it out", the band got to perform at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert, and at the 2010 MTV music video awards.

The Black Keys

    Known for songs like "lonely boy", and" gold on the ceiling", the Black Keys have been one of my favorites since 2013. The indie rock band formed in Ohio after the band members, Dan Auerbach, and Patrick Carney decided to drop out of college. Since forming their band in 2001, they began performing in basements and escalating to performing in music festivals, they dis this for creating a fan base. Jake Bugg

20 year old British song writer and singer Jake Bugg sings indie folk and indie rock. I know him from his song "Lightning Bolt". He was inspired from The Beatles, and other bands like Oasis, and singers like Johnny Cash. He began following his dream at the age of 16, when he dropped out of school. At the age of 17 he got a contract with Mercury Records, and was soon in America. He won the Best New Act at the Q awards in 2013.

Bastille

     Bastille is known for songs like "Bad blood" and "Oblivion". I know them for my favorite song "Of the night". All songs are written and recorded by Dan Smith with the help of the other band members. The bands first album was "Bad Blood" and featured songs like "Flaws" and of course "Bad Blood". The band first came into the spotlight with their hit song "Pompeii". Once the song was released they instantly became one of my favorite songs at the time.

    This British band is like no other. Just because they are a band full of boys, does not mean that they sing about the typical boy band music. They perform indie pop and synthpop. Marina and the Diamonds

Best known for songs like "Primadonna" and "Oh no!", Marina Lambrini Diamandis has been making music since 2005. Most of her songs are upbeat and happy, but she does have some songs like "Teen Idle" and "Lies" that are more on the depressing songs. But every great artist has a variety of music to choose from. So far Marina has had two albums, and since 2013, she has been working on her third.

FUN FACT: Coming up for a band name was not very difficult for Marina. Since having her last meaning diamonds in Greek, she simply put her name and named her fans her "Diamonds". So came the name "Marina and the Diamonds".

Marina is mostly known for wearing her heart on her cheek, as you can seen in this picture.
